So, I'm getting married on November 21! I just got a wedding dress on Saturday and its pure white (obviously).
Well, I am EXTREMELY white myself. And, the dress makes me look SOOOO pasty and makes my skin look all blotchy!
I CANNOT tan naturally or use a tanning bed bc I WILL BURN!
So, I was thinking about using a spray on tan? Or some kind of lotion ive been reading about? But i hear a lot of bad things, too like when you sweat it comes off? Or you turn orange? And you cant shave the day of your wedding or it will come off?
Will somebody please enlighten me and maybe give me some ideas? I cant spend that much so i would prefer not to have it done professionally. Thanks!!I'm thinking about using a spray on tan for my wedding?
My main reason for being against unnatural tanning is that it won't look like you. If you're naturally pale then rather be pale in the photo's but look like yourself. Do you really want to look back at the photo's and wonder ';who is that tanned person? she doesn't look like me';. And your fiance obviously loves you as you are, so why change?
So my advice is to get another opinion before you do anything else, I know that extremely pale women tend to see their skin colour negatively even though they shouldn't. Put on your wedding dress and ask your bridesmaids and mother and whoever elses opinion you trust to be honest with you and tell you if you need a tan or not. And remember to stand in natural light when you're doing this. Artificial light can enhance blemishes and make you look absolutely terrible.
If you can't get a spray tan done professionally then rather don't go for that option, chances are you'll end up looking like someone you don't recognise. And the less professional it is, the higher your chance of looking orange in the photo's or having the tan transfer to your pure white dress. You get lotions that gradually introduce colour to your skin but in my experience they shave off.
Something that I did in high school (when I still cared about looking tanned) is I used a tanning bed but only for about 5 minutes total, twice or once a week. I couldn't go more because I'd burn and over two months it gave me some colour, not a lot but some.
But please, get other people's opinions before you try anything.
Good luck.I'm thinking about using a spray on tan for my wedding?
I have a friend who is extremely pale as well and did a Versa tan (it's better than Mystic - newer technology). She did it and did not look orange, the color didn't bleed onto anything, and it lasted about 7 days.
The cost of this tan was only $20 for one session, and $50 for 4 sessions (they were running a special). A can of quality self-tanning spray from the drugstore will run you about $10 dollars, so it really is worth it to have it professionally done. It's not much more expensive and the results are much better.
Spray tan is a good option, but get it done at a GOOD salon, and try it out at least a month before to make sure it won't do weird things to you. Then make sure that same person does your tan for your wedding.
If you're worried about it coming off while shaving, why not wax? I had my legs waxed for my wedding (most other areas I've had the hair lasered off). You can get waxed 2-3 days before, give your skin a day to rest, then get the spray tan done.
I tried a spray-on tan myself a few years ago %26amp; I went all pimply %26amp; red all over, it stung in the shower %26amp; it was like that for a couple of days. I guess because I have sensitive skin, I was allergic to it!
Ive also heard of how people turn orange %26amp; it rubs off in the heat, so I wouldn't recommend using anything to tan except a bit of sunlight every day.
Try a spray on weeks before your wedding, so think of it as a trial and error, and you know how it will turn out for your big day or whether or not you would like to get it done. I'm from California, and there are a bunch of spray on tan booths; I have friends who've gotten it done, and some tans look more real and better than others. It all depends on who you go to.
omg no no no no no never use a spray tan esp for a wedding
you will look orange in photos and sometimes it streaks and looks horrid.
be yourself. trust me your man will love you he is marrying you
dont know why woman who dont use makeup or do not do there hair in bee hives do it on there wedding day to look complety diffrent.
your man shouldnt have to do a dubble take to see if you are really who you say you are
I've used a aerosal spray tanner and it looked pretty good for a couple days but places like my elbows and back of my knees looked terrible. And it is nearly impossible to get it off (that I know of). If you are going to do that I would suggest having someone else spray it on for you so they can be sure to get it even all over. Maybe look up good ways to apply it evenly?
Good luck!
Any photographer will tell you that in photos it will look orange no matter what, especially if you are naturally pale. Pale skin against a white dress is the most flattering look.
DONT DO IT, you well regret it. everyone i have ever known to do so has regretted it, because it turned out splotchy and orange. even when its top of the line stuff
no no no! Don't use those lotions or try to spray yourself. Go to a tanning salon and ask them to airbrush tan you. It will not come off on your clothes.
If you are considering a spray on i would go get one now give it three days to wash out somewhat and try your dress on and have someone take photos so you can see what it would look like. Lotion wise i like the vaseline self tanning lotion. But i would test both now before your wedding so if it ends in a disaster it wont ruin your wedding day because youll have tested it before the wedding. Just be careful some people have had allergic reactions to stuff in the spray tans and will end up looking like they have the chicken pox. So as i advised id test anything as soon as possible so you can try the other options before your big day.
What do you mean, your dress is ';pure white, obviously';? Women with very pale complexions look so much better in off-white and ivory, which are just as traditional and just as conservative as flat white, which is flattering on almost no one.
Anyway, it sounds like it's too late to pick a dress that will actually complement your skin tone, so you may want to consider a self-tanner. Different people have different reactions to them. Get a few at the drug store and try them (maybe try a different one on each leg). See how the color develops on you. See if it rubs off on your clothes. See how it lasts through showering and shaving.
I've had really good luck with Neutrogena self-tanners just to fill in swimsuit strap lines, but that doesn't mean they'll be right for your skin. So try a few and see what works for you. Be sure to have someone snap a few photos of your skin with the self-tanner so you can see how it looks with the flash and whatnot.
But frankly, none of them look really natural. You may be better off with a good makeup artist who knows what she's doing with the blush and bronzer.
Do a trial run. You have time to try out a few different things. Try a professional spray tan, where you go into a booth and have someone else airbrush the tan on to you. Sure, you pay more for it, but it will give you the best results. Also, this way, you can judge at which day your tan looks the best, so you know how far before your wedding that you want to get the fake tan done.
I am very pale, with yellow undertones to my skin, and I wore a pure white (aka bright white) dress, did not tan, and it looked fine with my skin. The off-white colors actually make me look sallow. It all depends on your skin tone.
